What is Risk?
Early Warning Signs
The Safety Continuum
Everyone takes risks in life, and they are crucial to healthy development. Informed explores different ways of helping young people understand and manage risk. Many interventions targeted at risk-taking behaviour focus only on the behaviour (e.g. Substance Misuse) and the possible consequences (e.g. Addiction, Health Consequences) resulting in a limited ability to modify and change behaviour. The reasons why young people engage in risk-taking behaviours are complex. Often they have nothing to do with knowledge of the related risks of the behaviour.
We believe young people benefit from learning skills which help them to identify and manage risk alongside knowledge of risks and risky situations.
